Five reasons why you SHOULD own an Alfa 4C
We've listed five reasons why you should definitely check out the Alfa 4C:
1. It has a carbon fibre monocoque
Carbon fibre is considered as cool nowadays. It happens to be that the monocoque of the Alfa 4C is fully manufactured out of carbon fibre. This doesn’t just cause the incredible stiffness of the chassis, but also helps to reduce the weight. A dry 4C only weights 875 kilos compared to a Porsche Cayman which weights around 1400 kilograms. Because of the stiffness of the chassis, the 4C Spider is nearly as stiff as the original. The monocoque of the 4C is mostly built by Maserati in Modena, using Dutch carbon fibres.
2. It’s a pure driver’s car
The 4C doesn’t know any form of luxury. Everything is fine-tuned to increase the purity of driving this macchina. There is no power steering, which means a proper drive is equivalent to a full body workout. Purists love that. You will feel every single bit of the tarmac, and as a result of that you can pose the front wheels exactly where you want them to be.
3. The design of the 4C
The design of the 4C is something extraordinary. A spiked nose and sharp lines and plaits in the bodywork increase the effect of aerodynamics. You’ll notice the striking air vents and peculiar headlights. Whether you like them or not, they do save weight (2.9 kilos each).
4. It’s price
The 4C can be called ‘cheap’. I don’t know any competitive mid-engined supercar with a carbon fibre monocoque. Some people think the Cayman is a competitor, but only two factory options cause that it will cost you 300 mil. Beside that, the Cayman is much more luxurious and way more heavy.
5. It is an Alfa, what were you thinking of?
