Bentley Bentayga is official

Set to debut at the IAA, Bentley has released the full press load beforehand and presents us with the all-new Bentayga.

Bentley's first SUV has been teased for a while now, videos, images, and other promotional activities were worth the wait? That's up to you to decide, but this luxury SUV thing has caught my attention. For whatever reason, that may be though. It all started back in 2012 at the Geneva Motorshow where the Bentayga saw daylight as a concept, a heavily criticized concept that is. Judging by the pictures, the feedback was processed constructively and Bentley has delivered once again.

The car

Design-wise the Bentayga is  Bentley all around, you get the same style interior traits and the same goes for the exterior. Technically there's also a big resemblance to the rest of the line-up from Bentley as the car is equipped with a W12 that pushes out 600 horsepower and a massive 900 nm of torque. Launching the car to 100 kilometers an hour in just 4 seconds flat and it will push the car all the way up to a Vmax of 301 kilometers an hour using the 8-speed transmission and AWD. Weight-wise the car has been constructed wisely with the use of aluminum and could have been 260 kilograms heavier with the use of less 'exotic' metal.

Mandatory luxury

Interior-wise the car resembles the rest of the line-up as I wrote earlier. The car comes with 3 different levels of audio option, probably with levels like ‘okay’, ‘good’, and ‘I’m willing to pay a lot for a name’. Handcrafted leather, wood, and metal are used trough out the interior, likewise for infotainment as the Bentayga is equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen in the dashboard and two android tablets for the rear passengers. All that luxury is coached around on a four-mode air suspension aided by electronic active roll control.

Speed

Bentley is planning to bring out more versions of this car like a diesel version (hooray), a higher Vmax model called the Speed, and a 7 seater. Expect a plug-in hybrid version to pop up as well, as Bentley can't dodge the Co2 hating governments. I'm just hoping they go silly and bring out a hardcore GT3 R model. We'll bring you live photos from the IAA next week.
