AMG G65 4×4² Convertible teased | Prototype spotted

So the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² was supposed to be the baddest thing around ey?

Mercedes and AMG are throwing a party this year and they're going at it pretty damn hard. They've got F1-tech hitting the public roads in a hypercar, some special editions (of course) and they've teased an AMG G65 4×4² Convertible? What!? That's right, a freaking V12 in an SUV that sits high enough on its wheels to run over half the world's population without them losing their scalp.

In 2015 Mercedes launched a proper off-road version of the G-Class, named the G500 4×4², it quickly became an infamous machine. Countless videos showed it jumping, people went to the arctic with it and it even made people doubt in their daydreams: "should it get a 4×4² or a 6x6 when I win the lottery?" Well the brand teasing the AMG G65 4×4² Convertible has made those daydreams even harder!

License plates are often a place where manufacturers leave hints, same goes for Mercedes-AMG. Just look at that "G 65" causally showing. And then there's the tyre showing in the teaser, which measures 325/55, the exact same width as the G500 4×4². That car gains an additional 400 kilograms in weight in comparison to the standard G500, expect something similar to happen to the AMG G65 4×4². But don't worry about it weighing well over 3 metric tons though, the 630 HP V12 will easily manage.

There's no official word out there at the moment, so it's mostly speculation at this point in time. Speculation can go a long way though, especially with all these hints, but it could very well be that this ins't an AMG model at all.
