599 GTO Fernando Alonso Edition and 695 Biposto Showcase

Limited and unique, can it get any better?

You might not have ever heard of the Ferrari 599 GTO Fernando Alonso Edition or the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari Biposto and for good reason. Both cars have been under the radar ever since their launch. The Abarth meant for Ferrari dealers alone and the 599 never got launched as something unique by the Italian big boys. Both belonging to a couple, Luke and CJ were granted the opportunity to capture these odd twins on film in the Alps.

Where the story behind the 695 is pretty straight forward, the tale behind the 599 GTO Fernando Alonso Edition is downright funny and actually happend by chance. We’ll get to the 599 later, first up is the Biposto. Originally meant as dealer lend-out-car alone, the 695 wears the name ‘Tributo Ferrari Biposto’ and only a hundred of them exist world wide. It’s basically a merging of the existing Tributo Ferrari and Biposto formula. It’s littered with unique traits like carbon fiber interior panels, a 191 HP 1.4 liter enige and obligatory badges. Best of all? Its livery resembles that of the 599, something that forces other road users to grin widely when you’re out with the both of them.

The 599 is just called “unique” because of its F10 livery then? Nope, it is actually tuned by Ferrari themselves to push out an additional 20 horsepower. Reworked cylinder heads in the V12 aided by an increased compression ratio did the job and it now pushes out a massive 690 horsepower near its redline. In addition the car has been lowered slightly by the factory. And then there’s the story behind the car, as during production Fernando Alonso saw the car and said he wanted to get his hands it. As the customer was an executive for Scuderia its biggest sponsor, the company’s marketing team linked with the marketing team of Scuderia and a date was quickly set. A date for him to trash the car across the Fiorano and that’s exactly what makes this car so unique. It has been driven hard by an F1 driver, so hard that the calipers discolored. A detail the couple decided to keep. Afterwards the car got a little badge we discuss in the video and was unofficially named the ‘Fernando Alonso Edition’
