570GT is most practical McLaren to date
McLaren is bringing the biggest amount of models to Geneva ever, among them is their latest addition to the Sport Series, the 570GT.
The 570GT is the latest addition to McLaren's recently launched Sport Series, a series that used to include the 570S and the 540C. Now the 570GT joins the ranks as the model that is orientated towards comfort on longer distances, paying tribute to the two letters behinds its name in the process.
570GT
Build upon the same MonoCell II, as all models in the Sport Series, it shares most of it genes with the 570S unsurprisingly. It even uses the engine that first debuted in the 570S, being the V8 M838TE. An engine which produces 570 PS and 700 Nm of torque, no word however on tweaks concerning the character of the engine that could aid in the 'GT' part of the car. What does aid in the 'gran turismo' genes is the increased practicality, most striking and apparent addition to that is the luggage space which adds 220 liters of extra storage. Storage that is accessible via the massive glass plate shown in the gallery. The space covered in leather that is, leather and upholstery that's just that tat more than other models in the Sport series. Same goes for a unique unique aerodynamic package, more luxury is what the 570GT is about. The 570GT launches itself to a hundred in 3.4 seconds, that is if the special noise-canceling Pirelli tires can grip properly. Less noise is more comfort and same goes for the amount of vibrations that reach the cabin, leaving the team to re-tune the suspension to a more comfortable setup. Also increasing the comfort is a new steering wheel configuration, one with less of a direct steering-feel. Fear not, because at the flick of a switch the 570GT turns rights back into a track capable toy. One that doesn't defeat the 570S though, no you don't cannibalism in the lineup do you McLaren?McLarens first attempt at luxury will set you back 195.000 euros, we'll be seeing just how luxurious in Geneva next week. Stay tuned.
