The 2019 Mercedes G-Class Is Your New Favorite Luxury Off-Roader

It's finally here, the 2019 Mercedes G-Class has been unveiled at the NAIAS and it retains the vintage looks while giving it a complete overhaul.

During the Detroit Auto Show last night, Mercedes unveiled the new 2019 Mercedes G-Class in the G550 trim. And although the car might not seem new at first, there's more to it than meets the eye.

Now if you can’t see a difference between the old and new model, you’ll probably have to pay more attention. The changes are subtle but instantly recognisable. It’s been modernised without throwing away the iconic G-Class looks.

The most important changes in the 2019 Mercedes G-Class are the ones you can’t see from the outside. The car is 55 % stiffer than the previous model while weighing 170 kg’s less than before. The wading depth has been increased to 700 mm and a new waterproof camera has been fitted under the rear tires to help with reversing.
Other techy upgrades include traffic sign and brake assist.

Inside the cabin there’s more legroom in the back and the dashboard is dominated by these two massive screens like you find on the S-Class. The same goes for the steering wheel with its touch-sensitive controls. Probably one of the newer features is the integrated voice assistent that works as good as the one on your mobile device.

While it has a lot of new features, the car still retains its Ladder frame just like all G-Classes, it still has 3 independently locking differentials and a low range gearing.

The new 2019 Mercedes G-Class looks ready to dominate the luxury SUV market once more. And many versions of it will spawn, from the aggressive AMG's to a possible electrified version. Mercedes is going to offer it all.
