2018 Mustang GT500 Spotted Benchmarking Camaro ZL1
MotorTrend spotted a heavily cloaked Mustang driving around in Arizona. It looks like it could be the 2018 Mustang GT500 since it was accompanied by the Camaro ZL1.
The high performance Mustang was spotted by Motor Trend journalists who were doing a review on the new Mercedes-AMG GT C in Prescott, Arizona. It looks like it's a GT350R base testing high performance parts under it's cloaking. As anyone would do, they want after the unknown car that could possibly be a 2018/2019 Mustang GT500.
However the most interesting part may be not the car itself but the car it was following. Yes, Ford seems to be benchmarking its mystery Mustang against GM’s Chevy Camaro ZL1. Benchmarking is done by every manufacturer, Honda even had a 991 GT3 in possession when they were developing the NSX. And that gives us a very clear signal that this is could be the high-horsepower Mustang we’ve been waiting for since the GT350.
Ford likes to be super secretive with what they’re creating and this one is no exception. We’ve seen it featuring big fender louvres to possibly extract more hot air but that still leaves the debate open for the powerhouse that will sit up front.
Twin-turbo or old fashioned supercharging? What would you like to see in the upcoming Mustang GT500. It's release might still be very far away but we hope we can maybe get a glimpse of one in a few weeks at the New York Autoshow.
