Attending The Ride for You in Frysland, Netherlands

Normaly I tend to think things trough about which lenses I am taking with me to an event, but this time I just tossed them all into my bag. I ended up using my 40-150mm f2.8 the most during the start of the event. The wide open estate allowed for this as I got to play with the cars moving around. Where the rest of the event didn’t give me a chance to make any panning shots I choose to switch to the 12-40 mm f2.8 for the lunch break. allowing me to try more with the composition.

Leader of the pack was the Bugatti driven by a rather famous Dutch collector Jan Stuivenberg, last year he attended with his Jaguar XJ220. The Bugatti co-driver was smiling from ear to ear all day. The tour made its start at a brilliant estate with a vast lawn on which the cars could make a parade before leaving to tour trough the Dutch countryside. Weather wasn’t what we hoped it to be, but that did change later that day.

The first break was at lunch, I left afterwards but did stay long enough to see them line up on the boulevard. What a sight that was. Police usually ruined events experience has taught me, but not here. Full escort wasn’t a problem at all, last year they even had a free piece of highway to play with.

Will I go again? Yeah, one of the best tours I attended in ages!
