Gumpert to arise from ashes as Apollo

The second time is a charm? We sure hope so for this hardcore track day-car builder from Germany.

Whatever caused Gumpert to go bankrupt in 2013, it wasn't because their cars were bad. No not at all, their Apollo S for example puts down a top speed of 360 kph and a 0 to a hundred times of 3 seconds flat using a 720 horsepower V8. The thing is that these are just numbers, as their cars were really built to handle insanely well. Weight-wise their models never weighed more than 1200 kilograms. Sadly though, all this hardcore performance didn't save the company.

Ashes

We got a chat with the team testing at the Nürburgring last week and they told us that the brand is back. Under a different name that is, now named Apollo they are aiming at finishing the development of the models they were working on when they pulled the plug. Currently, the brand is still looking for more investors, but that doesn't stop them from testing. We caught some footage and photos of their creation roaring trough Eiffel. More news should be arriving in the next months. In the coming days we'll be posting stuff from the spying we did, so stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram.
