GIMS Live: Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster Joins The Party
Another convertible joins the Geneva party. This time it's Mercedes' AMG GT R Roadster that brings open-top fun.
Affalterbach has lifted the covers off of its latest open-top beast. The AMG GT R Roadster is the new AMG top dog and it is limited to just 750 units. That's 50% more than the McLaren 675 LT Spider. Sorry for that random fact.
Back to the AMG GT R Roadster: the car is basically a slower, heavier, more comprised version of the coupe. That closed version was launched 3 years ago, leaving quite the gap between these two. A gap matched in terms of performance, as the roadster launches to a hundred in 3.6 seconds and has a Vmax of 317 KPH. All just a tat slower.
Power still comes in at 585 HP and 700 Nm generated by the infamous 4-liter, hot V8. And yes, that is still hooked up to their seven speed AMG Speedshift DTC.
Everything else is identical, from the options to the traction setup. There is however a new color of skin available for AMG GT R Roadster and the coupe. Called 'designo graphite grey magno matt', the added colour brings the choices to a total of 14 paints.
