Alpina turns it up a notch: B3 S and B4 S launched

That little letter makes all the difference

German manufacturer Alpina (they’re officially one) has been building the current generation B3 and B4 since 2013, and that means it’s time for an update! The result? An additional letter that petrolheads all associate with power, all hail the B3 S and the B4 S.

If BMW hadn’t created the 4 Series, this article would have been a lot simpler. We’d just be talking about the B3 S then, and not both. Then again, it is just a name and the differences are only dictated by its chassis and nothing else. Power is up to 440hp and 660 Nm for all models, no other technical changes took place.

Fastest of the bunch is the B4 S, as it hits a hundred in just 3.9 seconds when paired with an xDrive setup. Relatively the slowest is the B3 S with RWD, taking 4.3 seconds to hit a hundred. They all max out above 300, without you having to pay more to remove a limiter.

Alpina is unveiling their latest models in Geneva next week, the event where they showed the monstrous B7 last year.
