2018 Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS Revealed
Say hello to Porsche's most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever. The 911 991.2 GT3 RS is your new favorite track toy.
We've seen a lot of spy shots coming from the new 991.2 GT3 RS giving us various hints at what the updated hardcore 911 would bring but now it has been revealed in a bold striking green color. The GT3 RS is one of the final songs for this 911 generation. After this there's the Speedster to look out for and then it's over to the 992(?) to step in featuring a hybrid Carrera and a turbocharged GT3.
That means this is the last GT3 Porsche to feature a naturally aspirated engine. From here on the future models will all be turbocharged. So what does that mean? You're getting the same 4.0L flat-six as before but it has been tweaked a bit. The 991.2 GT3 RS now makes 20 more horsepower bringing the total up to 520 hp with a screaming redline of 9.000 rpm.
0-100 takes 0,1 seconds less than before and top speed is increased by 2 kmh up to 312 kmh. But next to a reworked engine, the car has a lot of other different goodies as well. The aerodynamics have been reworked, giving it a front that looks similar to the 991.2 GT3. There’s also NACA ducts on the hood like the GT2 RS. The rear has also been reworked and features larger air extractors to provide more cooling to pass through.
Optionally you’ll be able to select the Clubsport Package featuring a six-point harnass, a fire extinguisher and an aluminium roll cage. Weight savings we can expect the removal of some sound deadening, carbon fiber race seats and the use of other lighter materials to further reduce the weight of the car. But we’ll have to wait for the official reveal to see pictures of the interior.
This info comes from the Australian Drive but pictures have since then been removed. Expect a full reveal by Porsche shortly.
