'2016 Audi RS3 brake problems uncovered'
This looks bad, very bad. As in; you really don't want this to happen to you.
Dutch website AutoBlog.nl has discovered something; 2016 Audi RS3 brake problems that is. And we're not just talking about a little squeak. No, we're talking about a defect that makes you want to sell the car after only a few thousand kilometers. After receiving an email from a reader about the problems he was having with this 2016 Audi RS3 and the dealership, the digging began.
Pre-Braking
The 2016 Audi RS3 brake problems consist of a heavy vibration of the disks on the front wheels. Where the current-gen RS3 doesn't use a differential between on the front axle, it simulates this using the brakes. Torque vectoring that is. To keep the brakes in optimal condition for the diff-simulation to work, the car uses a system called 'pre-braking'. This system softly engages the brakes to keep the disks clean. It is generally assumed at this point that the pre-braking system is the cause of the problems. Somewhere around 70 cases are currently know, not all in the same country. Cases where the dealerships and national distributor claimed it to be individual cases. All cases had their entire brake sets replaced after an average of a mere 5k kilometers. and you guessed it; they had to pay for it themselves. Check out how bad the vibration are right here.
Currently there's no word from the disturbers or dealerships on the problem, we suspect that one will quickly land though. As this news is spread quicker than you're average celebrity sex tape.
