Facelift DS7 Crossback: Refinement is the essence

The new facelift DS7 Crossback is all about refining DS-Automobiles’ first in-house design. We got the chance to check it out in the flesh a few weeks ago.

The first thing that you’ll notice is, well of course, the design. The DS7 gets a sharper, more mature look. With a larger frontal grille being a key part of the front area of the car. A second thing you’ll notice, which is my favorite design cue of the whole facelift, is the new, refined daytime running lights. These pieces go through the regular process of painting but once they’re finished, parts of the paint are removed by lasers. This sci-fi treatment allows the design team to create a truly distinctive and premium daytime running light.

Towards the back, the rear now features the “DS-Automobiles” text in the center. The rear taillights are slimmed down and feature this ‘diamond’ pattern. And going back to the front for just a moment, the headlights are now pixel LED lights consisting of 84 individual LEDs. As speed increases the lights high beam will increase in distance up to 380 meter.
As an extra, there’s also a performance version hybrid with 360 hp. The E-Tense 4x4 360 features a wider and lower stance, an intelligent all-wheel-drive system and bigger brakes.

Refined materials

DS has worked on finding the best materials to fit inside the new DS7. New alcantara materials featuring a much darker black, leather interior trim panels with a draped print pressed into the leather.
Speaking of leather, the one’s from the seats also have gone through the process of searching for that little extra DS can offer you. They have played with the materials introducing a fish skin-like leather but also with the shapes in the leather with various layering or stitching.

Nouveau technologie

It’s a rare thing that you’re able to customise an interior this much to your personal liking in terms of shapes and colors. But it’s not just some fancy new looks that come into play in the new DS7. The interface has been fully renewed and sits inside a high definition 12”-screen with quick access buttons to not make it all too complicated navigating inside the infotainment.

But it doesn’t stop there, the DS7 pushes technology into this segment that hasn’t been seen before. The one most impressive is the DS Active Scan Suspension. It’s a camera based system which scans the road in front of you and it adjusts every wheel individually in order adjust the suspension before it even hits the imperfection in the road, allowing for an ultra smooth ride experience.
Further tech includes night vision, drive assist level 2, attention monitoring

Ordering has started right now, you can even order the car online without ever having to leave the comfort of your sofa and your new DS7 will then be delivered via Valet Service right up to your door.
